'Hello' from Down Under! The Book of Mormon Will Receive Australian Sit-Down Production

A whole lot of Mormons are heading down under. The Tony-winning The Book of Mormon will receive a sit-down production at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre beginning in January 2017. Casting for the Australian mounting will be announced at a later date.

Featuring a book and score by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez, The Book of Mormon follows two mismatched Mormon missionaries as they are sent to Uganda to spread their religion. Upon arrival they learn their training may not have quite prepared them for the many challenges they are about to face.

In addition to Broadway, the show has two current U.S. national tours (one of which began as a sit-down in Chicago) and currently plays London’s West End. The Great White Way production opened in March 2011 and went on to win 11 Tony Awards including Best Musical.
